Difference between Neutral and Acid Salt Spray Corrosion Test

Technical Library | 2019-12-13 00:39:29.0

Salt spray corrosion chamber can test the ability of material and its protective layer to resist salt mist corrosion, or compare the process quality of similar protective layers, at the same time; this equipment is suitable for parts, electronic components, protective layer of metal material and other industrial products. Salt spray test is divided into neutral and acid test. What is the difference between neutral and acid in salt spray test? First, the temperature applied in the test method is different: Neutral test: a. Laboratory:35°C ±1°C, b. Saturated air drums:47°C ±1°C Acid test: a. Laboratory:50°C ±1°C, b. Saturated air drums:63°C ±1°C Second, the production material is different, neutral test chamber adoptes the traditional PVC plates, acid test chamber asopts PP sheet, which is more high temperature resistance and suits strong acid test. Third. Different test methods satisfied Neutral salt spray chamber according to GB/T 2423.17-2008, GB/T 2423.18-2000, salt spray test method and GB/T 10125-1997, GB/T 10587-2006, GB10593.2-1990, GB/T 1765-1979, GB/T 1771-2007, GB/T 12967.388, GB/T 1705.8-2008, etc. In addition to the test methods specified in the national standard, acid salt spray chamber also needs to expand the standard setting such as IEC,MIL,DIN,ASTM,IS,CNS. Inventory Efficiency In The Supply Chain

Technical Library | 2001-05-23 16:23:26.0

Lowering inventories is one of the quickest ways to decrease working capital needs. Performance measurements, such as the old standby ROA (return on assets) and the newer EVA (economic value added), as well as other measures that gauge how efficiently capital is used, have become more common organizational drivers. In fact, many an executive’s bonus depends, at least in part, on how efficiently capital is used.

High-precision dispensing technology: Potting technology for medical wearables

Technical Library | 2023-07-27 18:41:40.0

Diabetes affects many millions of people worldwide. New technology for real-time glucose measurement replaces the usual unpleasant pricking of a finger: a sensor located in the subcutaneous tissue of the diabetes patient measures the glucose values and transmits them to a receiver. Production of such medical wearables calls for high-precision dispensing systems for applying very small amounts of UV adhesives to medical PCBs and for integrated system concepts to achieve this. A perfect task for Scheugenpflug.

Development of a Consistent and Reliable Thermal Conductivity Measurement Method, Adapted to Typical Composite Materials Used in the PCB Industry

Technical Library | 2017-05-04 17:35:01.0

Most of today's printed circuit board base materials are anisotropic and it is not possible to use a simple method to measure thermal conductivity along the different axis, especially when a good accuracy is expected. Few base material suppliers' datasheet show X, Y and Z thermal conductivities. In most cases, a single value is given, moreover determined with a generic methodology, and not necessarily adapted to the reality of glass-reinforced composites with a strong anisotropy. After reminding of the fundamentals in thermal science, this paper gives an overview of the state-of the art in terms of thermal conductivity measurement on PCB base materials, and some typical values. It finally proposes an innovative method called transient fin method, and associated test sample, to perform reliable and consistent in plane thermal conductivity measurement on anisotropic PCB base materials.

Effects of Package Warpage on Head-in-Pillow Defect

Technical Library | 2017-07-06 15:50:17.0

Head-in-pillow (HiP) is a BGA defect which happens when solder balls and paste can't contact well during reflow soldering. Package warpage was one of the major reasons for HiP formation. In this paper, package warpage was measured and simulated. It was found that the package warpage was sensitive to the thickness of inside chips. A FEM method considering viscoelastic property of mold compound was introduced to simulate package warpage. The CTE mismatch was found contributes to more than 90% of the package warpage value when reflowing at the peak temperature. A method was introduced to measure the warpage threshold, which is the smallest warpage value that may lead to HiP. The results in different atmospheres showed that the warpage threshold was 50μm larger in N2 than that in air, suggesting that under N2 atmosphere the process window for HiP defects was larger than that under air, which agreed with the experiments.

Comparing Techniques for Temperature-Dependent Warpage Measurement

Technical Library | 2008-03-13 13:02:50.0

Three full-field optical techniques, shadow moiré, fringe projection and digital image correlation (DIC), are used to measure temperature-dependent warpage for a PBGA package and a PCB component land site from room temperature to 250ºC. The results are qualitatively similar, but imaging resolution and noise properties create offsets between coplanarity values. The paper summarizes strengths and weaknesses for each technique.

How to inspect the temperature recovering time of thermal shock chamber?

Technical Library | 2019-11-12 02:09:22.0

Thermal shock test chamber can be used for testing the chemical change or physical damage on composite materials caused by the thermal expansion and contraction of the sample in the shortest time, which is subjected to extremely and continuous high and low temperature environment.so how to check the temperature recovery time of this chamber? Normally we take following steps to inspect the temepratuire recovering time: 1.Install the temperature sensor at the specified position, and adjust the temperature controller of hot zone and cold zone to the required nominal temperature respectively. 2.The temperature increases and reduces respectively,30min after temperature in two zones reach stable status, record temperature value of the measuring point, pls set the temperature value of two zones to be required nominal temperature. 3.The temperature shock test chamber automatically places the inspected load into theh ot zone, select the corresponding retention time according to regulated standard. 4.Set the transfer time, then the inspection load is transferred from hot zone to cold zone, and the temperature of the measuring point is observed and recorded, and then the reverse conversion of the load from cold zone to hot zone is carried out according to the same method, and the temperature of the measuring point is observed and recorded. www.climatechambers.com

Reliable Young's Modulus Value of High Flexible, Treated Rolled Copper Foils Measured by Resonance Method

Technical Library | 2018-08-15 17:27:28.0

Smartphones and tablets require very high flexibility and severe bending performance ability of the flexible printed circuits (FPCs) to fit into their thinner and smaller body designs. In these FPCs, the extraordinary highly flexible, treated rolled-annealed (RA) copper foils have recently used instead of regular RA foil and electro deposited foils. It is very important to measure the Young's moduli of these foils predicting the mechanical properties of FPCs such as capabilities of fatigue endurance, folding, and so on. Even though the manufacturers use IPC TM-650 2.4.18.3 test method for measuring Young's modulus of copper foils over many years, where Young's modulus is calculated from the stress–strain (S–S) curve, it is quite difficult to obtain the accurate Young's modulus of metal foils by this test method.

Round Robin of High Frequency Test Methods by IPC-D24C Task Group

Technical Library | 2017-06-29 16:39:30.0

Currently there is no industry standard test method for measuring dielectric properties of circuit board materials at frequencies greater than about 10 GHz. Various materials vendors and test labs take different approaches to determine these properties. It is common for these different approaches to yield varying values of key properties like permittivity and loss tangent. The D-24C Task Group of IPC has developed this round robin program to assess these various methods from the "bottom up" to determine if standardized methods can be agreed upon to provide the industry with more accurate and valid characteristics of dielectrics used in high-frequency and high-speed applications.

Advanced Second Level Assembly Analysis Techniques - Troubleshooting Head-In-Pillow, Opens, and Shorts with Dual Full-Field 3D Surface Warpage Data Sets/

Technical Library | 2014-08-19 16:04:28.0

SMT assembly planning and failure analysis of surface mount assembly defects often include component warpage evaluation. Coplanarity values of Integrated Circuit packages have traditionally been used to establish pass/fail limits. As surface mount components become smaller, with denser interconnect arrays, and processes such package-on-package assembly become prevalent, advanced methods using dual surface full-field data become critical for effective Assembly Planning, Quality Assurance, and Failure Analysis. A more complete approach than just measuring the coplanarity of the package is needed. Analyzing the gap between two surfaces that are constantly changing during the reflow thermal cycle is required, to effectively address the challenges of modern SMT assembly.
