Device tracking is a serious threat to the privacy of users, as it enables spying on their habits and activities. A recent practice embeds ultrasonic beacons in audio and tracks them using the microphone of mobile devices. In this paper, we explore the capabilities, the current prevalence and technical limitations of this new tracking technique based on three commercial tracking solutions. To this end, we develop detection approaches for ultrasonic beacons and Android applications capable of processing these.

Ultrasonics, coupled with an aqueous detergent process that cleans at below 43ºC, may be best suited for fine-pitch SMT screens and stencils. Aqueous detergents clean more effectively than solvents, with little or no environmental impact. Because of the environmental concerns driving today's technology decisions, the once simple decision of selecting a stencil cleaning process is now clouded with different chemicals, different cleaning machines and various types of solder paste, all with specific environmental, health and safety related issues and regulations.

One proven method used to treat clogged arteries employs tubular, mesh-like metal structures, known as stents, inserted into an affected artery to relieve the blockage. Bare metal stents often cause a condition called restinosis, the buildup of scar tissue around the stent, causing re-blockage. To counter this, polymer coatings containing drugs that are released over time are used to inhibit restinosis. Applying coatings to stents, which have intricate geometries, is challenging. Using ultrasonic atomizing spray nozzles has proven effective in achieving continuous and uniform coatings. This paper describes the unique nozzle designs employed, the methodology used, and the results obtained.

In this work an attempt is made to improve the fracture toughness and electrical conductivity of epoxy/glass fiber based laminates by the inclusion of carbon nanotube (CNT) fillers. The fiber orientation of the epoxy/ glass fiber (GF) fabric laminates was optimized based on estimation of mechanical properties. The carboxylic acid functionalized CNTs were incorporated into epoxy matrix by ultra-sonication method. The nano filled epoxy resin was used to prepare laminates with 30/45 GF fabric orientation. The CNT content was varied and its effect on the tensile properties was determined. The fracture toughness of multiphase composites was estimated using single edge notch bend (SENB) test. The presence of CNTs improved the fracture toughness by a crack bridging mechanism. The volume resistivity of multiphase composites was found to be superior to the conventional epoxy/CNT composite. The presence of glass fabric reduces the number of inter-tube contacts contributing to the reduction in volume resistivity.

Considerable effort is ongoing to improve the efficiency and to move towards high-volume manufacturing of photovoltaic cells. Much attention has been focused on developing in-line processes to replace the current batch processes. A critical process to improve the performance of solar wafers is the application of Dopants. The basic requirement for this process is an automated method for applying a very thin, uniform film of Dopant to the silicon wafer as part of an in-line manufacturing process.
