IPC has received overwhelming praise from IPC SMEMA Council Electronics Assembly Process Exhibition and Conference (APEX) 2001 exhibitors. With more than 12,900 total visitors (attendees and exhibitors), this second-year event saw an increase of more than 20 percent in overall attendance from the 2000 event. The 394 exhibitors filled more than 168,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the San Diego Convention Center.

IPC reports that more than 6,900 attendees ventured to San Diego for the second IPC SMEMA Council Electronics Assembly Process Exhibition and Conference (APEXSM), held January 16-18. Of those attendees, more than 1,900 were from outside the United States, certifying APEX as an international event.

IPC announces the election of Douglas Pauls, principal materials and process engineer, Rockwell Collins, to chair the IPC Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC) for a two-year term. Elected to the position by the chairs and co-chairs of all IPC standards groups, Pauls succeeds Mel Parrish of STI Electronics, Inc. who held the role for IPC’s top standards development oversight committee for the past two years.

Third-quarter 2019 results from IPC’s Pulse of the Electronics Industry global data service show that the global electronics industry continues to thrive in a positive business environment and still predicts continued growth over the next year. The results are somewhat less optimistic than in earlier quarters this year and there are some sharp contrasts between regions.
