IPC announces the release of IPC J-STD-001GA/IPC-A-610GA, Automotive Addendum to IPC J-STD-001G Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies and IPC-A-610G Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies. The addendum is a first-of-a-kind document that requires the use of both J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 along with requirements in the addendum, as it looks at the whole of the electronics assembly manufacturing process from assembly to inspection addressing board reliability requirements for the automotive industry.

On September 25, representatives from prominent automotive and rail original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers met in Frankfurt, Germany to launch the IPC Transportation Electronics Reliability Council (ITERC). The inaugural group included key technologists with core expertise in electronic hardware development, manufacturing technology, PCB design, quality, and environmental reliability. The council was partly developed in response to positive encouragement from IPC members and automotive industry leaders, who had attended IPC’s debut Automotive Electronics Reliability Forum in Nuremberg earlier this year in June.

The 2021 Electrical Wire Processing Expo (EWPTE) originally scheduled at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, Wis. for May 11-13, 2021 has been postponed to May 10-12, 2022. As show managersof the 2021 EWPTE,WHMA/IPC and Wisconsin Center Districtstaff met with the newly formed EWPTE exhibitor advisory board. The advisory board comprised of representatives from the following companies: Amphenol CTI, Anixter, Artos, Brady Corporation, Cesar-Scott, DIT-MCO,Dynalab Test Systems, HellermannTyton, IEWC, Komax, Molex, Schleuniger Inc.,Southwire Company, TE Connectivity and Telsonic unanimously made the critical decision to postponethe event due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19.

From revolutionary advancements in electrical wire processing technology displayed on the show floor to expert insights conveyed in reimagined training and educational offerings, the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo (EWPTE), provided expanded networking and increased access to industry solutions that helped 2,574 attendees address business challenges and prepare for the future. The 2022 event was produced for the first time by the Wiring Harness Manufacturer's Association (WHMA), IPC and the Wisconsin Center.
