SMTA and MEPTEC announce registration for the two-day symposium titled "Successful Strategies for the Medical Electronics Sector: Steady Growth Keeps the Momentum Moving Forward" is now open. The event will be held September 22-23, 2010 at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. ASU's School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering is co-sponsoring the event.

On April 3, 2017, the European Union (EU) Council voted to adopt a regulation regarding the sourcing of conflict minerals in high risk zones. Approval by the EU Council is the end of the formal legislative process and the regulation, which was approved by the European Parliament in March, will take effect in 2021.

SMTA Interim President Announced

The SMTA announced that Gregory Vance, Rockwell Automation, will serve as interim president through the current term ending in September 2020. The decision, made by the board of directors, comes after the resignation by current president, Jeff Kennedy, due to a conflict of interest outlined in the association bylaws which forbids two concurrent offices held by employees of the same company.

North American PCB Sales Growth Ends 2018 Up 8.7 Percent IPC Releases PCB Industry Results for December 2018

IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® announced today the December 2018 findings from its North American Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Statistical Program. Sales growth bounced back in December and remained solid for the year. The book-to-bill ratio also strengthened in December and stands at 1.05. Total North American PCB shipments in December 2018 were up 7.7 percent compared to the same month last year. Shipment growth ended the year at 8.7 percent. Compared to the preceding month, December shipments increased 17.1 percent.
