In conjunction with Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2023, IPC hosted the UK regional Hand Soldering Competition in Farnborough, UK., February 7-9, welcoming 27 competitors from 20 European electronics companies. Skilled contestants competed to build an assembly in accordance with IPC-A-610 – Class 3 criteria, and were judged on the functionality of the assembly, compliance with the assembly process, and overall product quality. Contestants were allowed a maximum of one hour to complete the process.

For the first time, IPC hosted a regional hand soldering competition in Vincenza, Italy, at Focus on PCB May 17-18. The first ever Rework Experience Competition was held at this year’s SMT Hybrid Packaging international exhibition and conference. This competition tested competitor’s skills in reworking a finished printed circuit board. There were seven total competitors and all seven successfully completed the challenge. Ljupce Talevski, from Aluwave AB took first place. In second place was Ekatarina Stahlmann from Grundig Business Syst. Coming in third place was Conny Hielscher from Grundig Business Syst.
