SMTA Releases Selective Soldering 101 Online Training Course

The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) announced the recent release of Selective Soldering 101, the latest in a series of online training courses on the fundamentals of electronics assembly. The course will be useful for equipment operators, technicians, and engineers new to the industry that want to understand more about the soldering process and who have a basic familiarity with the equipment.

Despite chilly temperatures in Munich last week, things got “heated” as 43 competitors went soldering iron to soldering iron at IPC’s Hand Soldering Competition at productronica 2013, November 12–15. Emerging victorious and taking first place, a cash prize of €500 and a new soldering station from JBC Tools, was Jacek Majchrzak, PartnerTech, Poland.

The competition was fierce as a new record of 43 competitors competed at IPC’s Hand Soldering Competition at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany. Taking first place and a cash prize of €300 was Ekatarina Stahlmann of Grundig Business Syst., who earned 495 points out of 506.

IPC Announces Results of the IPC Rework Experience Competition at SMT Hybrid Packaging International Exhibition and Conference 2016

The first ever Rework Experience Competition was held at this year’s SMT Hybrid Packaging international exhibition and conference. This competition tested competitor’s skills in reworking a finished printed circuit board. There were seven total competitors and all seven successfully completed the challenge. Ljupce Talevski, from Aluwave AB took first place. In second place was Ekatarina Stahlmann from Grundig Business Syst. Coming in third place was Conny Hielscher from Grundig Business Syst.

IPC Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2017

The competition was fierce as 34 competitors participated in the IPC’s Hand Soldering Competition at SMT Hybrid Packaging 2017 in Nuremberg, Germany. Taking first place and a cash prize of €300 was Elaine Chesnais, Thales International, who earned 433 points out of a possible 437. Chesnais was the second-place winner at SMT in 2016.

IPC Hand Soldering Competition to “Heat Up” productronica 2017

In cooperation with productronica 2017, IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® is presenting its very popular Hand Soldering Competition in Hall A1, stand 307 at this year’s event. Skilled competitors will demonstrate their soldering skills, on 14 – 16 November, as they compete for cash prizes: 1st place — €300; 2nd place — €200; 3rd place — €100. New this year, IPC will feature the World Hand Soldering Championship on 17 November, 2017, with the regional winner from productronica and competitors from around the world. The winners of the IPC HSC World Championship will receive cash awards amounting to: 1000€ to the winner, 500€ for the runner up and 300€ for third place. The awards will be presented Friday, 17 November at 14:00 in the SMT speakers corner Hall A1, stand 220.

IPC Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at IFTEC in Paris

IPC, in conjunction with IFTEC, conducted the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at IFTEC in Paris because the MIDEST exhibition, originally scheduled for October 2017 was moved to 2018. The competition was fierce as 33 competitors went soldering iron to soldering iron to take the hand soldering competition crown. Taking first place with a cash prize of €300 and a JBC Soldering Station was Catherine Cardinal-Simon from Thales Microelectronic in France, who earned 443 points out of a possible 446. Cardinal–Simon will now compete at the IPC World Championship Hand Soldering Competition located this year at productronica 2017 on 17 November.

IPC Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at ELECTROSUB 2017 in Budapest

IPC, in conjunction with ELECTROSUB 2017, conducted the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at ELECTROSUB 2017 in Budapest, Hungary. The competition in Budapest drew the highest number of professional hand soldering competitors to date in Europe of 51. Unique to ELECTROSUB 2017 was an IPC HSC competition for high school students. The 16 high school competitors were not going to be out done by their older professional competitors as they put their best soldering techniques on display vying for cash prizes for first, second and third place. Taking first place in the high school competition with a cash prize of €30 was Mate Toth, Technical High School, Komarno, Slovakia. In second place with a cash prize of €20 went to Bence Marki, Palfy Water Management Technical High School, Szolnok, Hungary. Taking third place with a cash prize of €10 was Gilles Cumin, from Lajos Bardos Elementary School, Lagymanyos, Budapest, Hungary.
