IPC worldwide membership has climbed to an all-time high in 2017 with more than 4,000 member sites in 79 countries as companies in the electronics manufacturing industry continue to acknowledge the strong value of IPC’s product and service offerings. Fueled by double digit percentage growth across Asia, IPC Asia Pacific has nearly 1,000 members and buoyed by IPC’s new office in Brussels, IPC’s member count in Europe has reached 600.

IPC's Validation Services Program has awarded an IPC-4101 Qualified Products Listing (QPL) to Taiwan Union Technology Corporation (TUC), an electronics materials manufacturing company headquartered in Jhubei, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. TUC provides mass lamination services, copper clad laminates and prepregs to the global electronics industry. To earn the QPL, TUC successfully completed an intensive audit based on IPC's foremost standard on base materials for laminates and prepregs: IPC 4101, Specification for Base Materials for Rigid and Multilayer Printed Boards.

Nordson ASYMTEK received two prestigious awards for innovative technology during NEPCON China 2017: the Innovation Award from Electronics Manufacturing (EM) Asia in the category of Special Systems--Dispensing Systems and the VISION Award for Innovative Products & Services in Surface Mount from SMT China magazine in the Dispensing and Conformal Coating category. The awards were presented for achievement in innovation and product excellence for Nordson ASYMTEK's Auto Dual Simultaneous (ADS) System. IPC's Validation Services Program is proud to announce that Zentech Manufacturing, Inc. has become the first company to be recertified to the IPC-J-STD-001 Space Addendum QML program. Zentech Manufacturing, Inc. achieved the QML certification three years ago and this year successfully demonstrated the Class 3 level work required for recertification. Not only did Zentech Manufacturing, Inc. become recertified, their wholly owned subsidiary, Colonial Assembly and Design LLC, added the QML certification for IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies, at the class 3 level.

IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® has extended the deadline of their invitation for engineers, researchers, academics, technical experts and industry leaders to submit abstracts for IPC APEX EXPO 2018 to be held at the San Diego Convention Center. Professional development courses will take place February 25, 26 and March 1, 2018 and the technical conference will take place February 27–March 1, 2018. The extended deadline for technical conference abstracts is July 21, 2017.

In cooperation with productronica 2017, IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® is presenting its very popular Hand Soldering Competition in Hall A1, stand 307 at this year’s event. Skilled competitors will demonstrate their soldering skills, on 14 – 16 November, as they compete for cash prizes: 1st place — €300; 2nd place — €200; 3rd place — €100. New this year, IPC will feature the World Hand Soldering Championship on 17 November, 2017, with the regional winner from productronica and competitors from around the world. The winners of the IPC HSC World Championship will receive cash awards amounting to: 1000€ to the winner, 500€ for the runner up and 300€ for third place. The awards will be presented Friday, 17 November at 14:00 in the SMT speakers corner Hall A1, stand 220.
