IPC's biennial Wage Rate and Salary Survey for the North American Electronics Assembly Industry is open and the deadline has been extended until September 29. The 2017 study covers 40 hourly and salaried positions in electronics assembly companies North America, including OEMs and contract manufacturers. It is intended for executive management and HR professionals who can provide data on a range of positions and policies.

Wire Harness Manufacturer’s Association (WHMA), a trade association representing the cable assembly and wire harness manufacturing industry supply chain, and IPC entered into an affiliation agreement. WHMA’s Board of Directors and membership determined that WHMA’s mission would more effectively be served by an affiliation with IPC which serves the global electronics industry supply chain, including the wire and cable industry vertical.

IPC’s statistical programs for the printed circuit board (PCB) and contract electronics manufacturing (EMS) industries in North America are now open to new participants for 2019. The deadline for IPC members to sign up is February 1. Participation is free to IPC-member companies as a benefit of membership.

The IPC Education Foundation was formally launched during IPC APEX EXPO 2019. As part of that launch, the Foundation committed to starting scholarship programs to raise awareness and reward educators and students that have interest in the electronics industry and the engineering disciplines. On March 4, 2019, the first two of these scholarship programs were opened to eligible participants.

IPC's biennial wage rate and salary survey for the North American electronics assembly industry is open with a response deadline of November 1. The confidential survey covers compensation for 40 hourly and salaried technical, manufacturing and sales positions at original equipment manufacturers (OEMS) and contract electronics manufacturing services (EMS) companies in North America. It also covers salary budget growth, planned increases for 2020, and employee benefits and policies.

Rod Howell, CEO of Libra Industries, moved the scholarship even further, pledging an additional five-year commitment. Donations made over the next five years will enable funding for 10 recipients.
