He had to rely on constantly looking at the machine or the process, or audible feedback and alarms and use the pushbuttons on the control panel to control the process. In this modern era, the revolution in industrial automation brought us closer to human-machine interface where graphical displays are presented to the user or operators. The displays typically have good screen resolution and touch screen controls that not only allows the operators to know every detail of the machinery but also the ability to control them.
