I.C.T Provide SMT Production Line solutions with Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) AOI is short for Automated Optical Inspection, which is widely used in the electronics industry to check the appearance of PCBA assembly at the back end of the circuit board assembly line. The basic principle of AOI is to judge whether the object to be tested meets the standard by comparing whether there is a large difference between the object to be tested and the standard image by using image technology. AOI emits a 4-color light source to the PCBA board, which is automatically scanned by an industrial camera for catastrophic failures, such as missing components or quality defects. Therefore, the quality of AOI depends on the image imaging ability, algorithm parsing ability and image discrimination technology. I.C.T AOI has done well in these aspects.

Via in pad is the design practice of placing a via in the copper landing pad of a component. Compared to standard PCB via routing, via in pad allows a design to use smaller component pitch sizes and further reduce the PCBs overall size. With component manufactures pushing smaller parts every year and the demand from consumers for smaller devices, the usage of via in pad practices by hardware engineers have become more commonplace. In this article, we will discuss the differences between via in pad and traditional vias, when should you use via in pad, and how to design for it.

Solder balls and solder beading have been a process issue for many years and they may not cause product failure or quality problems but they are not desirable. Solder balls are caused by a variety of factors in different processes and should be resolved to eliminate a poorly defined process or a process and materials which are out of control With over 40 years in industry and 30 solving process problems for industry Bob Willis explains the causes and curses for solder balls. Bob’s webinar features many unique process video clips on testing and failures and make his sessions come alive providing a much better understanding of the root cause of failure and corrective action. Dendrite failure on printed circuit board assemblies is quite common but often not investigated fully to pin point the root cause. This is due to the intermittent nature of the failure or just replacing components seems to solve the problem Book at https://www.bobwillis.co.uk/event/dendrite-failure-causes-cures/
