we are currently developing a 180 degs downhole tool and are right at the limits of our current solder paste, the tool has mostly surface mount parts and some fine pitch ic's. i was wondering if anyone had any recomendations for a suitable solder pas

To have an Operating Temp (Tool Classification) within your range, you might want to try. PB85 (Pb85/Sb10/Sn5) SMT is normally processed using Vapor Phase but can also be achieved with Nitrogen assisted Convection Reflow depending on size and compl

What solder alloy are you using at the moment which is coming to the end of its limits ? Normally in general for safe operation of an alloy we don't like to recommend any operation temp that is higher then two thirds of the solders melt point, but th

Downhole solder suggestions, in order of preference are: * Kester Sn96.3Ag3.7. Most vendors do not stock straight tin-silver alloys, whose wallet is that fat? * SAC305 can usually be used in place of one of the copper-free tin-silver alloys in downho

I would also suggest looking at your ramp rate in the cure oven. We noticed that accelerated heating increased the "gas out" of the solvent. We run 1A33 and and do not exceed a .5/degC ramp rate.

Normally the specs I monitored in our temperature profiles are Slope 1-2 Deg C/sec, preheat 60 - 120 Sec at 120 Deg C - 150 Deg C, peak 215+/- 10 Deg C, above 183 Deg C is 45 - 75 Sec, total reflow is 3 - 5 minutes. Why is it that we don't monitor

I'm using Kic Profiler and aluminium tape from Kic and thermocouples from Kic. They are good and reliable. I even manage to modify my heller 1088 by adjusting the fix conveyor and re-baffling the oven. Had dropped my 20-22 deg. C delta T down to 4.3

Question. When profiling and looking at the profiles cooling rate. Over what temperature range should the slope be monitored and what sort of cooling rates should be looked for. Paste supplier says no more than 6degC per sec, some components maybe lo
