I have a need to send some Engineers to intro SMT classes. I have found two avenues: 1)ACI (which is to high level!) 2)Cookson CPS which is more in line with intro to SMT process. Are there other that are on re-occurring timelines?

Send them to the SMTA - they have classes and courses for all levels. There is one in Boston at the end of next month. They have one at a different location every 3 or 4 months... http://www.smta.org/smtai/index.cfm

Has anyone heard of the quality of the electronics classes through the EMPF (i.e. American Competitiveness Institute, Navy 'Mantech' program)?

Don't hold me to it but... Class 1-process indicator, varify value (cap, resistor) Class2,3-failure (rework required) This is what we used at my former job when i took over QA responsibility.

From the questions that I am asked from week to week, there are a number of key differentiating factors for tooling classes. They could be considered the headings of a decision matrix, where the tooling options are rows and the following items are c

I have input about EMPF but my opion is biased. One thing I can tell you that is a fact- the classes are 40% theory and 60% "hands-on". The 60% "hands-on" utilized the latest in manufacturing equipment. No hotel conference room, training is done r

Be current.......Is my best suggestion. Electronics Theory and three stage audio amplifiers are great for class room environment but does not 100% apply in manufacturing. Teach through hole and SMT related classes. teach manufacturing. There are tons

My company is planning on utilizing SMT on a new product line. We would like to have several of our production people trained on SMT solder rework and repair. Can anyone suggest an appropriate training class in the New York metropolitan area?

The pads are 0.070 x 0.012 ... as spec'ed, and as measured. The pad extends approximately 0.017 behind where the Class 3 fillet is required to be. (It used to be 0.037 on an older design that exhibited similar, but not as bad of heel fillets.)
