Looking at low cost reliable Mother-Daughter board interfaces. Looking at having the Mom w/ a routed out slot, like 1.7mm wide with solder lands on the bottom side then plugging in Daughter thru Mom's slot w/ the Daughter having board edge contacts t

SMT Daughter Board Placement

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 06 09:16:10 EDT 2000 | Kev Head

All, We are planning to place a daughter board that has a surface mount relay reflowed onto it already. The reason for doing this is a bit complicated and not worth noting here. The process would consist of first placing the SMT relays onto a mult

Daughter Board Attachment??? Help!

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 22 08:15:34 EDT 2000 | Mark

I have a customer that has a wrong pin out on a TSOP32. The Raw PCB is expensive, "time to market concerns", and respin lead times are forcing an alternative solution. He would like to design a "conversion" daughter board with the correct pin out to

Depending on how wrong the pinout is another possibly a little less ugly option would be to bend the wrong pins up then wire them to the correct pads after reflow of the correct pins. You may want to trim the ends of the pins a bit use heat shrink or

Thank you for answering, Yes, we have 3 different capacitors for each daughter board with 4 boards/PCB. Another information that could help that we have the issue randomly on boards (not a specific one). The occurance of the issue is random. yes,

Head, There are no rules on what is placed by machine. Some things to look at: 1. vision alignment issues a. board size ( FOV ) 2. Machine pick-up a. special nozzle b. off center pick-up (depending on machine this could cause a problem) 3. Re

Mixed technology criteria

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 07 06:16:18 EDT 1999 | Ken Fong

Hi, We are using mixed technology in our PCBA. Would like to know whether there is any criteria governing/guiding the use of mixed technology in such aspects as: 1. Some SMDs cannot be used in some kind of PCB materials such as FR1? 2. Some SMDs are
