Has anyone out there had solder joint wetting issues with Murata ceramic chip caps, in particular with Alpha UP78 no-clean paste? We are finding that changing either the paste or the vendor corrects this problem. If so, please advise your solution(

If passive componets are cheaper why aren't they more popular? Manufacturers like Murata and AVX claim availability and substantial cost savings but little interest seems to exist. Why? Your input is greatly appreciated.

actually, component sellers will have their own respective catalogue with all the available sizes used in their industrial business. Try your local "Rohm/Murata" sales-rep. for starters in the realm of chip components.

Reflow problem resonator

I have a problem with a Murata cap chip type resonator(ROHS). After the reflow process, the soldering joints flow to one side of the component. I did not have this problem with the leaded component. Did someone have a solution for this problem?

Ask the distributor (or coilcraft) what the termination material is & if they do alternative ones. These maybe from old stock. If you get no joy have a look at Epcos & Murata who both have wide ranges of surface mount inductors.
