Looks like we'll be BGAing in the near future

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 31 09:23:50 EST 2008 | realchunks

I agree with Sr. and Doug. Capable equipment will run like sh^t if the process is not in control. Number one, don't be scard of BGAs. They are pretty easy if done in control and will cause you less pain than you ever thought. X-Ray is your best i

Tombstone/ Poor welting

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 21 03:25:58 EST 2008 | jlawson

I have seen smt chip varistors with Pd/Ag teminations that had poor wetting in terms of good fillet in LF (sac305) soldering. We found that the solder tended to be attracted to the plating on the part and off the actual pad (silver Immersion). This c

Paste printing way to thick!

Electronics Forum | Sat Mar 29 15:29:06 EDT 2008 | aw

I am printing a ceramic paste through a 160 mesh screen that should have a theoretical wet print thickness of 53um but the only way I can get the print that thin is to increase down stop and slow the stroke. This is causing problems with the mesh, s

I think you are close to the problem when you expect the pcb having a problem. When I look at your different pics I saw that your via holes looks like this pcb has a hasl finish... and when i look at Q 14 this picture tells me that the pcb is not an

Interesting - We're using the same AIM products as you. On the lead free, 353, did you start out with it or did you try the WS485? That was the 1st product recommendation we got from AIM and we found that the lot to lot consistency was not good. T

ixidized pads ?

We have received in one lot PCBs with defect of not wetting properly. Pads were finished with HASL but they were matte rather then shiny (attachment). For me looks like they are oxidized. Interesting is there was just top side with such defect. We h

Hi Guys, I have few question would like to ask regarding pcb conformal coating: 1. Can I know which masking material is the best for easy apply, fast cure, fast & easy to remove after coating & baking. And no chemical reaction which will whiten the

Land size

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 07 11:46:29 EDT 2008 | aj

Hi All, Can anyone advise the spec for land size of a lead 0.2mm in width? I am placing a TQFP128 0.4mm pitch, the leads seem to be wider than the actual pads they are been placed on? I am also experiencing poor wetting on this part , it has NiPdAU

Is it good or is it bad?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 09 16:05:12 EDT 2008 | bkreiman

We are using a right-angle SMT power connector on a board. The connector has 4 leads and two board alignment pins. The layout for the board is such that 1 of the leads is not used and the pad for the lead is not connected to anything, not even grou

If you are getting top side wetting, I doubt if this is a Delta-T problem. It also could be there is a lot of flux on the top side of the board stuck between the connector and the board. This is easily checked by fluxing and not running th eZ axi
