Anyone know of a paste supplier that can provide the 42Sn/1Ag/57Bi alloy? Supposedly HP has done some work with this specific alloy and we would like to evaluate it. Neither Alpha Metals or Kester can supply it.

Kester 256 has also worked tremendously well for us. We have soldered thousands of BGAs from 156 balls to 780 balls .8mm pitch with no solder problems (shorts, opens or voids) and no residue problems. Give it a try.

Kester has a special alloy for high temp soldering. Alloy 123. I would think that if you coocked 63/37 to 360c you would have a pot of dross in no time! Doug

We are running an RMA flux (Kester 1515). Changing the angle didn't help any so we're back at 6 degrees and placing an order for the lambda nozzle changeover. Are you currently running the debridging knife?

How thick is your stencil? We print 16mil every day with type 3 paste 2 of which you have tried (Alpha and Kester) Stencil should be 5 mil. Russ

Kester recommends that we store our 1400 gm tubes on the tip. Our documentation is based on their recommendation. The Alpha past we used was stored horizontally, but that was because the flux readily separated from the metal.

Try another solder paste manufacturer. Aim out of Rhode Island, Alpha and or Kester. I'm sure that they will be of better assistance than the current supplier. Good Luck

I learned yesterday that Kester is using a different color on their products. They thought that other manufactures would also follow their lead in this.

We use the Kester Solder saver here and seems to work well. on a side tangent Technical Devices has a Solder seperating machine used to seperate dross from the solder. I am pretty sure they use heat and pressure to seperate the two. www.technicalde
