Does anyone out there use anything besides alcohol in their automatic claw/finger cleaners in their wave solder machines? We are nearing our VOC limit and are looking into other chemicals (VOC-free) for cleaning. Thanks David

we set the pre heaters the same as the Electrovert. On the SHEO wave solder it is a much longer conveyor so we only turned on the last two pre heaters to match the Electrovert

I would not really say green, but muddy, yes. It does not look like tin/lead dross. You should not see it on you solder joints though.

HI again Dave, I was wondering what kind of problems you were experiencing with the silicone tape that led you believe that it wasn't the correct tape and question the manufacturer? Were there more failures and solder issues ? Thanks

Glynn We allow no silicone in our shop, because it ruins solderability. For more look here: http://www.smtnet.com/forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Message_ID=47025

Try: Tungsten, tungsten carbide, ceramics like boron-nitride or how about pyrex glass? Glass blowers could make "hooks" that connect to a cross bar. I would NOT use aluminum (even if anodized). Try stainless steel 316. 303, 304 do not have enough

All the points raised so far are correct. Only use QFPs if rearly pushed as the yield on your process will suffer. I have wave soldered parts down to 0.020" in nitrogen with OK results but the pads and drainage pads need to be worked on. Another r

Thanks Patrick for the replay, No, we do not mix the alloys nor Pb pcb:s/RoHS pcb:s in the case I described. It is simply as this: With both the different soldering processes we facing this phenomenon; but whith the RoHS SN100 or SAC305 it turns out

I know this is going to sound rather sad, but we have been using a Capton tape for years that contains silicone to mask large components as they go over the wave, as well as large plated holes on the pcb. It was handed down for years as accepted prac
