Fair greetings, just a thought on flash gold plating... stubborn brat am I?! thou shalt need to know whether the selective gold plating is for solderability enhancement purpose? or any other undisclosed purpose? at least thy hast not received any i

I opened a two product boxes which are similar and have PCBs. The PCB in one box is gold plated. Can anyone explain why it needs gold plating? Thanks in advance

Hi, I understand that solder dipping of gold plated units (PCB or component lead) is not the ideal solderability test (leaching of gold in the solder bath being one reason). Would anyone have recommendations as to the ideal solderability tests for g

Matt: Yes, if the gold was really thick, it could appear like your pictures. In measuring gold plating thickness, we'd want to use xray fluorescence [XRF]. For alternatives, look here: http://www.pfonline.com/articles/pfd0027.html

Flash gold is just thin electrolytic gold plating over electroless nickel or electrolytic nickel. Flash gold plating ... * Less than 3 microinch thick will be porous and take solder poorly * Greater than 10 microinch thick will cause brittle solder c

Not an expert on Gold Plating, but I would think that if you are making mechanical contact with the gold, that hard gold plating would be better. Immersion plating in this industry is typical for protection of solderable surfaces, and is pretty thin,

Hi guys, we have a problem and I hope something can give nme some new information. We have big solderability problems with a gold plated board. We changed the paste already, but there is no improvement. Could the Vapor phase Technology cause the p
