What does 5 micrograms of chloride mean to me? * With SIR testing, you can show no detrimental leakage currents under humid conditions, no corrosion, no metal migration, which are the big factors in figuring out electrochemical reliability. People

The EMPF has a great Paper regarding the Omega meter. www.empf.org (Click the Tech Pubs Icon) Here you will find a host of technical papers. These papers were relevant in their time but most have proved to be irrelevant in current day manufacturing.

Does anyone know of a less expensive technique to monitor board cleanliness (chlorides in micrograms/in2) other than omega mater - ion chromatography is costing us an arm and a leg.

Mike: An omega meter has very little to do with ion chromatography. * IPC TM-650, 2.3.25B, Detection and Measurement of Ionizable Surface Contaminants is a process control method that washes boards with an isopropanol / water solution and measures

When carry out the contamination test,do we measure for Chlorides on water soluble and No-clean fluxes? 1) What is the equivalent factor for machines developed to test the board cleanliness, Omega-meter vs Ionograph vs Zero-ion. 2) What values do we

I'll chime in here as well. If you have adhesion problems, 90% of the time it's contamination on the substrate (soldermask, flux residues, cleaner residues, etc.). Like Dave said, omega meter is a test for gross cleanliness, and it's OK for process

Wanted to inquire if anyone has a way to monitor cleanliness of boards that are assembled with a no-clean process. I'm aware that incoming board cleanliness can be monitored, however, I am after checking of cleanliness of boards after assembly. Wit

My OMEGA Meter 600 is no nlonger operational. The new unit that I was looking at is the Ionograph 500. Does anyone have input on the Ionograph, or has anyone ever worked with both the Ionograph and the OMEGA600.

Umar Chapter 7 of IPC-HDBK-830, Guidelines for Design, Selection and Application of Conformal Coatings deals with compatibility of the different materials in the chain. Have you: * Tested your bare boards at incoming for cleanliness with your Omega

Hi Mike Why is there a difference in readings on the Omega meter and the Ionograph ? Is it because that the IONOGRAPH is a closed loop extraction mechanism while the Omegameter is not ? Can you explain T
