Incoming inspection: Look for flaws and measure position of v-score as well as depth. If v-scored on both sides of panel, make sure v-scores are in alignment. Follow the PCB thru all processes inspecting after each stage of processing, especially

I'm trying to determine the best panelization technique, but have been unfruitful in my internet search for more information. I'm trying to determine the advantages and disadvantages of using either V-scoring or tab-routing (break-away tabs), but ha

Routing is great for odd shaped PCBs that don't lend themselves to v-scoring. changing from one shape PCB to another is easy. The down sides are you may require custom support tooling and they generate alot of dust. keeping up with the PM will be cri

| Does any one have some information on Sony routing machines? Do you know the website, the contact? Thanks. | As in PCB depaneling? The last two Sony integrated lines I saw were using the new patented Die Cutting depaneling technique, not routers.

Histroically we have designed our pcb panel configurations around the v-score format. The QA Dept of our company is is suggesting that we revert back to tab-routing as away to avoid damage to senistive components like large package ceramic capacitors

You can get a router with a saw blade to handle v-score, but if you plan on doing automated depanel/routing I would probably update my panels to mouse-bites and go with a standard bit based router.

I have a new contract with boards that have straight edges and are good for v-score breakout panel design. However, many of the traces are very close to the edge of the board so I am concerned that the traces could be damaged when we run them throug

It all dependes on the de-paneling method. V-score - .100" is probably to thick for manual seperation. There are machines that I believe can cut through a V-Score up to .125" or greater Breakaway tabs - .100" is getting to the limit when doing t

If you are facing problem of craked capacitor only after breaking of the panel into individual PCB's, this may be due to stress being generated on the capacitors terminals. The stress may be due excess pressure being applied on the panel for breaking
