Board in/out sensors on reflow machines, do they work well?

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 15 18:42:23 EDT 2002 | paulausten

Do the in/out board sensors on reflow solder machine work well? Can they be relied on or do they cause needless alarms? What has been your experience?

SMT Production Capability

Well, one of the things that we'll need to replace is the fact that all of our current boards use through hole components. (if that makes any sense) Joe

LSM

I like the LSM - nice and simple and works well. The SPIDA pc based inspection works well too but may be a bit pricier?

Bartector or Crestsolutions reel verification systems?

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 07 10:06:44 EDT 2004 | smtpro

It sounds like bartector would work well with our fuji's but we would really like to have a system for our mydata's also. Is anyone using the crestsolutions system and does it work well? Thanks

Cleaning Wave Solder Conveyor Chains

Sue, Go to a local hardware store and get yourself some Castrol Super Clean. I think there is some stuff called Zep that works well also. A strong solution of powdered Tide and hot water will well too.

Wave soldering equipment??

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 09 04:32:56 EST 2004 | chad

I'm currently using Electrovert Vectra's right now. They do really well. I was actually in New Hampshire last month looking at Vitronics Soltec's newest wave soldering machine too. I think they would be worth a look as well. Good Luck!

Sudden paste release problem

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 10 07:44:52 EST 2005 | Mark M.

Check your humidity levels there as well. If the airs to dry it would dry out your paste as well. We had to go out and buy some floor humidifiers for our place.

electrically conductive adhesives

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 24 08:29:01 EST 2005 | davef

We have done some work with conductive adhesives. The main lesson is: They do not adhere well to solder. * For components, a silver-palladium or gold end termination is recommended. * For substrates, gold over nickel should work well.

FMEA

Thanks guys, thats pretty much what we have done as well, just wanted to check that it's ok to do it this way rather than do a full FMEA for a product. We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks when we hand in the PPAP. cheers
