I observed some black dot or some oxidation occured on chip termination on pcba reflowed fews weeks ago as buffer stock. The solder joint and fillet wetting is good and shinning. It is an acceptable or defect condition per IPC standard/requirement? W

Hi PeteB Do you know PeteC? Anyway, it all depends on your most sensitive part. Look up the spec sheets to determine. Most general parts can take 3 or 4 heat cycles easily.

Yes, we also never experience erosion phenomenon on our solder pot. We are currently using one Sn Cu based alloy, which is SCS7.

I would not really say green, but muddy, yes. It does not look like tin/lead dross. You should not see it on you solder joints though.

Hi Jerry, I bet you have dross build up on your wave. Are you running nitrogen? If not this could be the case. Hope this helps!

How much flux are you putting on the board when using your foam fluxer? How does this compare to your flux supplier recommendation?

Flux foam is not affected by board or pallot. This wave is not the same as the hollis I used. The hollis wave flowed from middle to left and right side. This wave only flows to the left and its a very slow wave. Jerry

Just as I thought earlier, you have a stagnant wave. You should be able to mechanically adjust it so it flows in the same direction of your boards.
