| I WORK FOR A SMALL TO MID-SIZE CONTRACT ASSEMBLY HOUSE. WE ARE TRYING TO FIND ANY SURVEYS OR STUDIES DONE ON THE USE OF BGA'S BY COMPANIES ON NEW DESIGNS. THE WAY EVERYBODY'S ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT BGA'S YOU WOULD THINK THAT THERE WILL BE NOTHING E

DEK fine pitch autoflex pin breakage

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 19 19:05:27 EST 1999 | Earl Moon

Folks, I think we are getting closer to being very happy with DEK stencil printers of the 265 GSX variety. However, problems continue arising concering fine pitch autoflex tooling pin breakage. We are told by the British engineering establishment,

Thanks guys, since I have no control as to who makes the board (probably the lowest bidder), I guess I'll keep the SOT's on top. Thanks for your help, John | John, | | SOT 23's on the bottom side is no real problem...as long as you get the orientai

| Hi Folks, | This is my first surface mount board, so I asked our assembly house for some tips. They said only passives on the bottom side-preferably no smaller than 0805, 0603 only if I have to. I would think that an SOT-23 would be OK on the botto

Are you suggesting there may be some chemical incompatibility between paste/flux chemistries and the glue being used - thus intefering with the glue's ability to bond properly? I've only heard of this possibility, but never experienced it. Justin, St

| We have carried out some experimental work, in conjunction with DEK. Instead of dispensing adhesive for SMD components onto the bottom side of on of our PCBs, we have looked at the possibility of screen printing the adhesive. Because, at the stage

Dave, Thanks for the interest. Basically, we looked at this project as a straight swap, i.e. printing the glue on the PCB using a Dek screen printer instead of our current method of dispensing glue using a Camalot dispensing machine. For the PCB we

For Dean and the rest of you interested, I have reconciled many of my thermal issues with this machine and its peculiarities. The bottom side heater seems adequate, at 750 watts (not going to spend 10 grand extra for 500 more watts no matter what) a

Barcode printing on the PCB

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 12 19:09:21 EST 1999 | Jess Baker

Manufacturers who have to mark barcodes onto PCB's without secondary application of pressure sensitive labels can etch it on, screen it on, inkjet it on, use laser marking, or a combination of those. Using a laser marker to write a code into a label
