Sudden flux boil will cause splatter. More thorough drying or a slower intial ramp to allow drying to occur before a boil or "splatter" temperature is reached may aid your problem.

I'm currently planning to do an evaluation of RMA flux solder pastes for mil type applications. Does anyone have any suggestions for vendors to try? I'm especailly interested in pastes that aid application on boards with 20 mil pitch.

What is the range of temperature at the tip of most soldering irons? I was told that 90% of tips operate at between 430 and 460 F. Can someone verify this for me? I need this info to recommend the proper soldering aids for repair and rework. Thanks,

We have 2 sites using CircuitCAM. It is very inexpensive (compared to balance). Uses straight gerber data (simple) and has excellent visual aids.

I have also been using Flexa with the Circuitcam interface. Very easy application to use. The documentation package is very nice also if you plan on using it for visual aids.
