A common formula and perhaps more telling would be 1 defect for each solder joint and each part. For example a 1206 resistor could be 3 defects, a QFP128 could be 129 defects.

If you allow 3 seconds for insertion of each connector and 2-3 seconds for each solder joint, then add a 10-12% contingency allowance you shouldn't be far out. Maybe get an averagely rated operator to build one on the clock. Regards, Chris

How much does each part costs? balance that against the cost of counting and recounting and the time you are spending on this. Unless each parts costs dozens of $$$ you are wasting dollars to save pennies. Just my 2 cents
