During his State of the Union address tonight, U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to urge Congress to pass much-needed funding for semiconductor manufacturing and other advanced technologies as part of a new competitiveness measure. Both the House- and Senate-passed bills include $52 billion in funding as well as additional measures to boost American R&D, which will help reestablish the United States as a global leader in building the technologies of the future. IPC's Validation Services Program has awarded an IPC-6012/IPC-A-600 Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML) to Compunetics, a manufacturer of printed circuit boards based in Monroeville, Pa. Compunetics is the first to receive IPC's Validation Services QML for these standards. Compunetics met or exceeded the testing requirements for board coupons and passed a three-day, on-site audit by Validation Services. Maintenance of the QML requires testing of board coupons every quarter and passing of periodic factory audits.

IPC's Validation Services Program has awarded an IPC-1791, Trusted Electronic Designer, Fabricator and Assembler Requirements Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML) to TTM Technologies, Inc.'s facilities in Sterling, Va. and Stafford Springs, Conn. Following initial audits by IPC, the Sterling, Va. facility passed stringent fabricator requirements, while the Stafford Springs, Conn. facility passed designer and assembler requirements, earning both facilities a spot-on IPC's global network of rigorously vetted, trusted sources.
