Electronics Forum | Tue May 17 10:01:42 EDT 2005 | russ

I have had the same problem with this supplier, we found that one mfg. place or process used a .015" piece of FR4 as the base while others had .030" Fr4, We discontinued use of the .015" and never had a problem again.

Tombstone 0402 Caps......

Could also be a ground plane under one of the terminations of the cap causing heat sink troubles during reflow. One pad liquifies/solidifies before the other. Don't know a good solution for this outside of reworking them.

Cleaning Reworked BGA's.

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 02 21:37:21 EDT 2005 | davef

Are we talking: * BGA that you've reballed and want to clean prior to attachment to a circuit board? * BGA that you've attached to a circuit board after correcting something or other? ... and we're talking a water soluble flux or what?

Can anyone recommend a particular tool or method for debridging/replacing QFP 64 packages? We are using some fine pitch parts on a low runner and are new to the process. Thanks in advance, John S.

Scrap criteria

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 20 15:37:24 EDT 2005 | intermin

Well, at that value point, I'd go with the hourly ( unburdoned ) high-skill rework/repair rate up to 50%-60% of the board value. If this is part of an integrated system ( in-house assembly ) repair to value ratio could go even higher.
