Good post WML! you helped a lot!, Chunks brings up good point. Are there vias that can be shorted by this component being slightly misaligned? When reworking there could be residual solder or even flux that has shorted the pads or component, etc.

Can anyone provide advise on implementing assembly of a very low volume BGA based board (less than 1500 units/year)? We do not currently do any BGA assembly and lack the inspection/rework equipment thats associated with these parts. Thanks John S.

Watch out for the tube and camera. Tubes are over $20K and cameras can go over $15K. There are no reputable service suppliers for these. If you want a good refurbished machine with warranty call Rework,Inc. 760-458-0733. Gary

Questions are: * So after you spot one of these leads sitting on a nice pillow of solder, what happens? * Do you rework the part? * Does it take solder? * What do you do to make it take solder, if it does take solder?
