Michael, You're right, of course. A major mis-type on my end. What I meant to say is that no-clean fluxes are designed to not _require_ cleaning to meet industry cleanliness standards. Cheers ..rob

That is what I was hoping to hear. I found one of that sort of design and I am looking into it now. No beels or whistles, just a couple of heavy duty brackets, some calipers, and a microscope. 7K seems like a good price for me.

So you are saying that 0.13 mm stencil thichknes and 20% reduction of the middle cooling pad is working for you? Just as I said.. Best Regards, Mika Ps. Keep in mind that the QFN is designed to do some heavy work, while enough "heat transfer" occur.

My advice is the technology is not there unless your boards have been designed for laser soldering. Even then there are too many limitations to go into it. We tried a unit for almost a year and were never able to get consistent, not even going to m

If you want to do this process, you should ask how to design the board for this process. Regular hole dimensions in the board will not work for this process.

As Dave said stainless steel can not be soldered using fluxes designed for electronics. The only way this could be done is to spot plate copper or tin where you want to make the solder connection.

You could always open the .bmp in Paint, and then do a "Save as..." and choose .jpg as the file type. Everyone has Paint. Unless of course you're using a Mac, but then you'd probably be a graphic designer anyways...
