Anyone using Acrylic conformal coatings? We're looking into using one, but one of the drawbacks is the odor. We have problems with any material that has a distinctive odor and our operators. Also the lines we would use it require repair after coat

We've been conformally coating for years (primarily silicones) and yes we have issues with both equipment and materials. We just don't have experience with acrylics.

We too have recently got involved with conformal coating. We have had a good deal of sucess of cleaning the material off with gun wash. An aggessive solvent that does not harm the electronics and evaporates leaving no film

Can anyone make recommendations on how to spec components for process compatibility? Our design group has always done it from an electrical standpoint only. Thanks John

Gun wash is another term used for acrylic laquer thinner. We use DuPont 3642SC. We have much success in its use.

typically when i've seen this problem it is because the back of the mylar is sticky. Have you tried different parts?
