Seriously, OSP?, change the board finish, you are the OEM, correct? You have the power! Also, as another poster mentioned, high force applied at ICT ( possibily to cut through the OSP goop ?!? ) could be warping the board enough to crack the joints.

to get a 0-defect layout, OEM and CM have to work together, If you know what connections (balls) are the problem ones, let me know, and send me the gerber-layers + solderpaste layer, so we can see if the problem is design related or if you CM realy

Your process makes a bigger difference than the machine. I worked for and OEM with Panasonics. They eliminated all 5% resistors, wider tolerance capacitors, and went with as many dedicated feeders as we could. We also staged jobs. We had one runnin

We have eliminated the adhesive process as much as possible. We do paste in hole where possible and selective solder the remaining components or hand solder them. We looked at this a number of ways and determined the selective soldering and hand sold

Fuji makes a jig called the all in one jig. It is about 18K I think. It has an LCD display with various other bells and whistles. We use the older style one (from Fuji) that has a microscope on it. I think SMT Research and a couple other after marke

Not only is "designing for the processes is good", it should be required and enforced. Obviuously, one should not conider 'every' design rule - but on most observations. Otherwise those 'smart' OEM's often loose out in the long run. Pssst - they'

I am the manufacturing engineer for a small electronic OEM who also provides EMS for other local electronics companies. We are located in Montana (USA). In 2007 I made 36K. While that seems low, remember that my commute to work is only 10-15 min a
