Curtiss-Wright uses MIL-I-46058 at present. Any suggestions on how to approach engineering and update the drawings for new contracts?

Alternatives are: * DSCC Columbus continues to maintain the QPL for MIL-I-46058C. [Engineering is unlikely to change.] * Use International Electrotechnical Commission Standard, IEC 61086 - Coatings for loaded printed wire boards (conformal coatings)

Sounds like you need to turn-up the dial of your oven. Solderabilty protection finishes on components are changing, whether it makes sense or not.

how fast are you ramping your profile..and how long are you soaking it.. are you giving enough time for the flux to get activated...

Sarag, FYI tombstoning is a functional failure. Tombstoning is where one end of the component is not soldered and is in the air above the board/solderjoint surface. You may be thinking of billboarding (part on its side with both ends soldered down)

Hello Lloyd, I have posted your picture in my photo library for all to see - you can find the page at http://www.residues.com/circuitree_pictures.html Hopefully that helps! Sara

Can flux really prevent wetting? This seems odd to me. I am actually thinking the opposite of Bman, I am wondering if using a homeplate with an overprint condition might help? Russ

Exactly. We bring the paste apertures closer together, so that the part sits more in the center of the paste. As a CM, our customers do not always accept our recommended design changes, so we use this method to reduce our tombstoning if the pad geo

Hi. I'm new in bussines. I have a DEK screen printer and I have to choise solder paste and flux. It has to be lead-free. What do you recomand? Of course it has to be cheap and good. :)

AMTECH NWS-4200-4H3 is the best I have come across for a leaded process. As for lead-free I did some studies and we liked the Indium 3.1 and 5.1.
