If you are applying paste, you should duplicate the profile recommended by the paste manufacturer. If you are applying flux only than you need to ensure that you do not exceed max temp and/or ramp-rates such as

Maybe you can check the thickness of the solder mask between the pads. If the highest of the solder mask exceed the pad,then the component which was placed will be unbalanced.

May I ask what component types you are using and who the suppliers are? FYI - If the components have exceeded their shelf life, they may have oxidized too much for soldering using low activity fluxes. Thanks and best regards, SR
