How does the HASL finish and stencil match ? I have seen ocasions on fine pitch devices where the HASL can protrude into the stencil aperture either pulling paste down on the snap off or completely blocking the aperture and getting no paste.

Hi all, For leadfree HASL finish, is there any specification or guidelines for contamination level, esp Cu% to refer? How can we ensure the HASL finish composition is reliable for assembly? Thanks..

I am trying to find a standard for HASL - especially for small pitch devices. Are there better options than HASL for boards with a large amount of small pitch IC's??

The main advantage if ENIG over HASL is that ENIG is flat and HASL generally is not. The main disadvanages to ENIG over HASL are: * Cost of ENIG is 1.5 - 2X higher than HASL * Selflife is less than HASL * You solder to nickel, rather than copper * E

Hi Gani, looking at the HASL icture and the poor wetting of the solder over the pads I would imagine that the HASL coating is very thin on the pads and in actual fact isn't 'solder' but is tin /copper intemetallic and this has poor solderability. It

Okay, there's a debate here at my company. We build a card here that, often times, we get batches where there is excess HASL in the VIA hole barrels. Here is the problem that this causes: During the "1st reflow", the excess HASL bleeds out of the

I have thousands of old datecode PCBs which has an Entek and HASL finished. Entek PCBs are about 6 1.5 years old and HASL boards are at 1 - 2 years old. To make it worse, some of them came in the loose form, no vacuum seal nothin. As for the HA

| Okay, here's a stupid question. What exactly is HASL and OSP? We are going to delve into this technology where I work and I want to utilize the wealth of knowledge here to make life easier. Specifically, what are the differences, the advantages, di

At a former employer we required HASL thicknes to be a minimum of 0.75 micron (30 microinches), as measured at the thinnest point on any given pad. This would generally assure a minimum 1 year solderability shelf life. Usually when we saw a soldera
