Don't forget the possibility of excess moisture absorption. If this is lead free, then the laminate manufacturers state that you should bake prior to assembly. Was this completed?

You are technically correct eutectic Sn/Pb was discovered by the ancient Egyptians in (XXX) BC much longer then 20 centuries. I was just referring to soft soldering in the electronics assembly industry :-).

I use aluminum tape. Attach the thermocouple to the solder joint of a component. Use tape to hold down the wires so your thermocouple doesn't break free. Go to youtube and search "oven profile". There are some great "how to" videos there to help yo

SAC 305 liquidus is 219 C. A hybrid profile is often recommended with a peak of 230 C (reflow the SAC and not kill the Pb parts) with an extended liquidus of 60-90 sec to get good alloy diffusion. Or if the design (parts & pwb) can tolerate it go P

I have always had success using the Dupont sontara material... many suppliers offer. Recently have two customers of mine who swear by the results using the Aquavator for lint free and cleaning result without solvents. http://www.dekhead.com

5 medium sized BGA's are lead process rated only. Lead-free process would most likely destroy them
