If spacing is not to small you could use a temporary peelable mask used in wave soldering. Or have your PCB manufacturer screenprint a peelable mask on for you. These suggestions are only if the mask needs to be removed, If not permanent solder mask

Take a solder iron with some wire solder and attempt to tin the leads of the component. Look under magnifier or microscope. Did they wet? If not try fluxing them with liquid flux and then soldering again. Did they wet? If they did not then you may wa

| | What selective soldering products should I use for a low production rate, high-mix product line? I am looking to get rid of some hand soldering. I have seen exselect (selective soldering pot method), pillarhouse (small flow solder nozzle with rob

Yep, only the MLF have this blowhole/pinhole issue. Other components like SOT(transistor), CAP, RES are hey-o-kie. Btw, MLF = micro lead frame (IC/LGA) package. looks like a BGA without the solder balls. has direct attachment to the PCB ENIG pads wi

Hi, I am trying to assemble a LTCC component with Pd/Ag surface finish on to Sn/Pb/Ag solder and Sn/Ag/Cu solder. I am passing it through a reflow. I have observed poor wettability at the solder-pad joint. Does anyone have information regarding th

We are using a nitrogen generator (with a N2 storage tank) that feeds 1 selective solder machine. I do not know which type of generator it is. The N2 generator has an oxygen analyzer on it. The selective solder manufacturer recommends a N2 purity

They are expensive so you need to have a lot of jobs that take a long time to hand solder or have a ton of masking. Also look at bottom side wave soldering, if you are having a lot of defects, the selective will allow you to solder both sides in surf

We are currently reviewing a design which has a leadless chip scale package with a solder thermal pad on the underside. The application notes for the device specify use of a no-clean solder paste as the gap under the device will prevent cleaning. Is
