Good day, We use Loctite 3616 for securing SMD's to the PCB before wave. On rare occasions, we have to remove and replace the secured part. Our operators are having a diffucult time removing parts (large QFP's, etc). My questions to this forum: 1)

This is a bad situation and if you use (better to rework) adhesive that means it will work worse in your normal process(wont hold). Heat all the leads to reflow temp, twist (rotate)the part untill it breaks free. Most adhesives are not designed for t

Require a conductive adhesive - either isotropic or anisotrpic - which can be used for 100micron oitch devices. Must be resistant to solvents such as MEK and acetone. Cure below 150C, with possible potential for rework of the conections.

I haven't used that Loctite before as I've never printed adhesive, but you might try reheating the part with a hot air tool...it works pretty well with 3609.

SMT adhesive is hydroscopic. Some types absorb moisture faster than others. Moisture+SMT adhesive= pourous adhesive after cure. Excessive cure ramp rates can also contribute to porosity.

Sirs, What are the issues involved when a stencil printer is used for printing solder paste and adhesive? UV-curing of adhesive appears to help reduce slump and spread by forming a tough skin on the adhesive blob deposited on the PCB. Is th

I'd like to know if anyone could recommend a good high-temperature adhesive that can be used for thermocouple attachment. I've always used high-temp solder and tape in the past, but would like to try using adhesive. Any info is certainly appreciated.

They still make SMT adhesive?!?!?! Holy SMOKES BATMAN. I haven't used SMT adhesive in, oh 9 years. But, back in "The Day", I found loctite to be best. Call your local rep in, show them your process and make them earn their money.
