Hi SMTnet. I have a series of sensitive parts and solder preforms which degrade when exposed to oxygen and moisture. It seems the standard way of protecting these components is to use a nitrogen purged cabinet as storage. This seems to use a lot of

Hello Could I ask for advice? We have new machines with a full nitrogen tunnel. Type of soldering nozzle: worthmann 5 rows and next nozzle (in this same machine) worthmann 7 rows. One person in my organization claims that the delta nozzle is not wor

Hi all, We have an Omniflow 7 reflow oven that has not come with the nitrogen option. We are looking at fitting a nitrogen system to the oven, does anyone have nay knowledge that may help us? The cost of the nitrogen is nothing as we outgas enourmou

Hi, This would be a very exciting idea. Nitrogen is an inert gas, so this is why it's used, however Hydrogen mixed with oxygen in normal air is highly explosive, so it would be one of the worst gasses to use in a reflow oven I would think. Remember

This is what I was thinking, but I am being beat up pretty badly by the selective solder. Ambient temperature is anywhere in the the neighborhood of 76 - 80 degrees F. I am not sure of the RH, but I wouldn't think that would be my issue... One of

I have attached a pdf version of an article that explains the basics of a nitrogen atmosphere when soldering. It gives some basic guidlines as to when one may want to use nitrogen and what it can and can not accomplish. FYI- I did not write that ar

We are increasingly being asked to store components for longer and longer periods which we know through experience leads to reduction or total loss of solderability of the parts. 1) What is the industry accepted shelf life of tin/lead plated compone

There must be discussions about this on SMTnet but I have yet to find them. I would like to hear from all you smart people about running LF and PB BGAs on the same board using 63/37 solder. If you run your profile up to peak at around 225C +/- (nitr

Do you have any experience with flip chip applications using lead-free solder, and specifically do you have any information revealing how the process parameters for standard air reflow atmosphere can be modified to match the results for solder reflow
