Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 30 15:38:27 EST 1999 | Wendy Casker

Hi, I am looking for land patterns for 0612 and 0508 chip capacitors. Because they are not standard (yet) package sizes, i am having trouble finding a standard land pattern. (If you don't know what these are, picture a 1206 or an 0805 with the te

Thanks Reese. To be honest I don't know a great deal about the software just yet but we are running version 2.7.4. I know the guys are saying that they have a problem with identifying small capacitors and resistors as these have no markings though t

Hello I have a new 0402 pad design on a recent board were building in future. On closer look i thought the pad was a thru hole mount , but upon closer inspection the round pads are for 0402 comps. I had a discussion with the engineer and he said

Solder Stencil Apertures using NO-Clean Paste and 402's

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 22 11:37:38 EDT 1999 | Brett Gordon

Working DFM SMT issues with respect to a client's artwork together with a heavily modified solder stencil, I was able to reduce 0402 tombstoning from 80% across the board to 3%. I winged the aperture reductions, but are there any "rules" or guidelin

Tombstoning is usually oven profiling, see October 14 thread below. Aperture rules are misleading. Component mix, stencil thickness, paste factors, all contribute. Also, are you making the stencil from a paste or pad layer or from a soldermask layer?

In my experience AOI's are good for checking machine setup I.E. first piece inspection. After that the only things they will typically catch are wrong parts, reversed parts, missing parts, and tombstones. I would however suggest getting an AOI with a

To be honest with you, it doesn't really matter how you present the data, as long as you understand what the problems are. Bottom line is who cares what the numbers are unless you are doing something about it. Are you able to track the individual de
