Using Air Knife in Wave Machine

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 01 09:13:02 EST 2011 | mosborne1

Jacki - using the airknife is not going to help your bridging problems. You will need to keep an eye on your specific gravity of your flux. You may need to thin the flux that you are using. Also the ultimate fix is a vibra wave. I would almost be tha

Hi, It really depends on what your measuring. If it's water, then that has a specific gravity of 1, so with the metric system 1 Kilogram of water is equal to 1 liter of water. That's nice the way they did that. The conversion from 1 US Gallon to 1

Wave soldering profiling

Bruce, You didn't mention whether you had checked the specific gravity of the flux. Also, most flux manufacturers recommend getting rid of the flux after 40 hours of use.

No don't know about such a chart. But, consider changing the method used to check flux activity. Consult your flux supplier for a test kit that will measure actual activity (acidity). SG is a suggestive method.

Wave Soldering Thick PCBs - Foam vs Spray Fluxing

Assuming the poor hole fill is not localized, try: * Inadequate preheat * Flux specific gravity is low * Low solder temperature * Conveyor is running too fast * Solder pot is contaminated

Always check your specific gravity. It directly affects your faoming. Put ping pong balls in your fluxer to reduce your thinner from evaporating.

I can't open the picture but if it is webbing and you are running with an alcohol based flux (non VOC free) another thing to check is the Specific Gravity.

Flux mixed with Thinner

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 28 08:12:48 EDT 2011 | mosborne1

You should only need to mix in thinner if your formulation changes. You will need to check the specific gravity of your flux. You can do this by using a hydrometer. Contact your flux supplier for their advice.
