If you are facing problem of craked capacitor only after breaking of the panel into individual PCB's, this may be due to stress being generated on the capacitors terminals. The stress may be due excess pressure being applied on the panel for breaking

Bob: This links to a good discussion on scoring by George Verboven. [It discusses "keepout", but doesn't address your question, because George's "keepout" is not the same as yours]: http://www.tkb-4u.com/articles/other/vscore/vscore.php The infor

I have a new contract with boards that have straight edges and are good for v-score breakout panel design. However, many of the traces are very close to the edge of the board so I am concerned that the traces could be damaged when we run them throug

Thanks Dave for the reply. I understand there is + and - to each process. We have been doing v-score for a long time and for the most part it has work for us. As PCAs become more dense and components are squeezed to use most of the PCB space, it now

We have an array of boards that are difficult to depanel due to components being close to the edge. I want to route a space between strips (boards are 14" long x 1" wide) and have breakaway tabs like mouse bites, but the customer won't accept the ja

I represent Fancort Industries. We provide "pizza cutter" and horizontal opposing blade "guillotine" style v-score depanel equipment. The edge clearance requirements are 0.030" - 0.050" for the wheel cutter and down to 0.020" for the opposing blade e

We had a problem with cracked caps a few months ago, they were near the middle of the board, turns out it was caused when breaking them out of the panel, changed the panel layout and made them v-scored, problem solved. just an option, there's lots mo

All, I would like to learn more about the panelisation of boards. Are there any "rules of thumb" when approaching a PCB that requires panelisation. What are the most reliable connections from breakout piece to boards i.e V-score , drilled tabs etc

Cracked components will occur when the component is stressed. The only way to stop this is to not stress the part when removing the score. This can be done by fixturing the board top and bottom so it doesnt bow when breaking off the breakaway. Vi
