Gary, You're not trying to clean these boards with Iso or other solvents after using no-clean solder paste? That'll do it.

I wonder if some of the points here http://www.smtnet.com/Forums/index.cfm?fuseaction=view_thread&CFApp=1&&Message_ID=5926&_#Message5926 might help.

OA stands for Organic Activated. In the good old fo SMT processes, a lot of different fluxes are being considered. RA, RMA, OA, etc. If you look at the present no-clean paste, it is actually RMA.

Thanks Dave, you were pretty quick on that response, and it was well taken. Cal or Wolfgang any thoughts or should I go find a rock to climb under?

Thanks Phil. However, my objective is to identify stencils that are not 100% clean prior to sending to inventory. I want to catch it before the solder paste has a chance to dry and harden in the apertures. Kerry

We are trying to quilify a No-Cclean solder paste and we would like to know what kind of criterias or measurments are use to qualify the amount residues? Can we use an omega meter for that? What equipment measures SIR?

I use BioAct SC-10 and it seems to work pretty well. The best bet is to contact your solder paste manufacturer and ask them for a recommended cleaning solvent for the flux residues... Regards, Justin

We will be using the same paste for all boards. We would need to change head because of board widths. Is the amount of time changing heads comparable to the time changing squeegee blades?

If you visit the Cookson web site you will find a detailed list of trials of pastes and how they performed within the pump.

Dear Jack, If you are trying to attach a connector - contact me offline or go to http://www.tekais.com. Teka offers a technology that deposits enoough solder volume on connectors for thicker PCB's.
