It is usually done differently. Sensor is in the solder. Once solder becomes goes below the sensor, it triggers you need to add. I believe it measures temperature rather than distance.

Most select solder machines I've dealt with use conductance sensors to detect solder.

Hi, I am having a issue that SMT nut drop after reflow. The solder height all in specifications. Had tried adding flux inand the solder paste. But shows no improvement. Is the nut easily oxidize? Can anyone help me on this?

Hi Victor, The part drop after the first side reflow itself. The part seems like didn't catch solder.
