In production,we are seeing high defect for Hair Line Solder Shorts for PTH connector and the Hair Line is too tiny that X-Ray and ICT could not detect.Any suggestion on how we can resolve or at least detect this upfront.

usual solder cream has a viscosity above 800 000pas at 25�C for each 1�C the viscosity change about 30 000 pas at 15�C you will have nothing ( 37% of viscosity less)on your board...

Moisture will condensed on your paste if the temperature different. Solder bead will happen. You can see the jar or cartridge wet when you removed your paste from refrigerator.

I wonder if yor customer means wrong "flux"? Your not solderng to gold. Your soldering to Nickle. The gold is disolved and dispersed. Your joint strength comes from the SnNi intermetalic.
