As Mark states, we have also used tape to cover sharpie notes and part numbers. Works well. We use kapton tape.

Hmmm... that might work on some AOI machines but I believe the vision inspection is usually performed before the part is placed on the board, at least thats the way my machines work!! Website was much more attractive than moonman's though!!
