0603 - stencil thickness

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 03 12:01:46 EST 2003 | jax

Alot of the companies out there use Standards developed internally, centered around there paste, equipment, and reflow processes. Normally you will see either 5mil or 6mil stencils used for everything in house with the exceptions of specific boards.(

Making a BGA stand up

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 13 16:24:15 EST 2003 | russ

Youch! I know this is going to sound stupid but.... I have done it in the past in limited quantities. We placed capton (polyimide) tape at each of the four corners for a similar situation. It did work but the operator has to be careful in placing

double sided reflow criteria

"Use the pad mating to lead wetting area." If I get your drift, we're talking about the minimum lead area (assuming the pad has an area that's at least as large as the lead) required to be wetted by IPC-610. Hmmmm...that would take some calculation

Plated through via's in pads.

Hi "some customers/designers want to have via holes to be present in the PCB pad, due to some belief that it helps in heat dissipation. " As I think about this I don't know exactly why they would be concerned. I can imagine in some exotic products

Inline Washers

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 27 16:38:01 EST 2003 | russ

James, The last time I evaluated in-line cleaners (2 yrs ago)the Aquastorm was by far the best. They were the easiest to maintain, acheived the highest cleanliness level (per in-house testing with omegameter 600 heated solution), and were the quiete

SMT Component rotation problem

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 27 14:41:48 EST 2003 | jax

Cad rotation should not change with relation to how the part is presented to the machine. It should only depend on how the part is orientated on the PCB when the PCB is at 0 rotation. There is a seperate field to input part rotation inside a feeder.

Production scheduling

I just can't accept that what I want to do hasn't been thought of before. It's to basic a concept for there not to be an existing product that can at least do something reasonably close. There are too many manufacturing environments and locations f

0201 chip placement

Hello bphillips, I'm not surprised you're having difficulties with this size chip. As technology advances in product development continue to shrink package and real-estate size, the equipment and its automation must continue to perform it's desired f

What are decoupling capacitors?

Hi Just had to poke back at this one. Good article David F, Thanks!! A little old yet still great. Hey ever used Pease Porridge from EDN. Modelling has come a long way in a short while, yet still the real physical reality and the desired electro

Immersion Gold over Nickle de-wetting problem

Everybody thanks for all your help, the problem has been solved. Before I describe the solution I've got to own up, I'm the PCB Design Eng., The Process Eng. lobbed this problem onto my desk last week, said the problem lay with the PCB finish, whats
