Hotbar Soldering Troubleshooting

Electronics Forum | Wed May 11 20:41:53 EDT 2022 | donovan03608

The leads on the FPC are pre-tinned on both sides with SAC305. The receiving leads are AU. We coat all surfaces with Kester 979 no-clean flux dispensed via pen prior to initiating the hotbar cycle.

How to clean white residue

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 01 20:44:17 EDT 2002 | davef

Actually, the white res were caused by the water carrier in your Lonco 23F reacting with the res from the nc flux used to solder the component in place. Comments are: * Some nc flux res are cleanable, some are not. Your supplier [Alpha?] can probab

Flux Compatibility Issues....

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 06 12:42:24 EDT 2006 | samir

Wave flux, although I've seen it used successfully in my past life, is not such a good idea to use as a rework/touchup flux. Wave flux needs to be heated to certain activation temps which won't be repeatedly achieved with a manual soldering process.

Re: Solder on gold finger

| We are trying to reduce the number of units fail at system test due to flux on gold finger. We know so far that the flux is deposited onto the | goldfinger during touch-up or rework and to reduce the contamination we are | planning to imp

Ashok: A fine mess you gotten us into now!!! ;-) You have no good options. BEST OPTION: Get the customer to accept the boards "as is." Rework will only degrade the product. Agree to accept all liability related to this solder condition (which y

Hello, Could be that touchup operators are using too much flux. What are you dispensing flux with. Disposable or refillable flux pens are good to have around. | | | | hello to everybody, | | | | we have a really satisfactory no clean proc

BGA Reballing Machines

We might need to open up the term "mass production" here, but I will give it a try anyway. I've seen semiconductor packaging companies in the far east where they pick up balls with a vacuum head, consisting of holes matching the pattern of the BGA p

ECOs on OSP finish

Electronics Forum | Sat Jun 30 11:28:24 EDT 2001 | davef

Consider using a roll solder with a flux that well matches the residues you can accept to be remaining on the board when you get finished processing. Many people use a no-clean flux cored roll solder for such operations, because they don't want to c

You don't say what kind of machine you are using but several just use the edge of fiducials to determine area (and centers). If you are teaching in binary and have the ability to select a decision level (threshold), use a level half way between loss
