kpm, you are probably right. under magnification those two pads show some exposed copper which means that they were contaminated or had insufficient solder paste before reflow.

i don't see why it was insufficient. if you want more paste, i would increase by 10-15% aperture, and maybe double prints for printer.

We had a similar problem once, it was due to insufficient v-score depth. While waiting for remade PCBs we would run an exacto knife along the score lines prior to depanel to cut a little deeper. Not ideal for sure, and not fast, but it worked.

Could you show us the reflow profile and 0402/0201 pictures? I have had the same situation before just because insufficient solder paste ( Specially on 0201) and maybe not enough heat reflow profile.

Hello Eniac, 1/- Insufficient solder paste, check your print (Printer/Stencil). 2/- If you've got good paste deposit, that could be contaminated pads causing poor solderability. Good luck.

Will it not work for soldering defects (solder bridges, shorts, insufficient solder, solder void) or components defects (lifted lead, misaligned component)?

You need thermal couple at the location where insufficient solder occur, it would tell you the true story.

This one picture would help us so much to assess. Step stencil to 6mil for the connector area.If this doe not resolve it, start thinking about part contamination, insufficient heat in reflow profile and a few other

Evtimov, here is a picture of what we are seeing. After evaluating with the IPC-A-610 book it looks like we are getting an insufficient Heel Fillet Height. I will add a picture of an example. UPDATE: i cannot figure out how to add a picture to this m
