Has anyone done breakaway tabs with v-score on both sides instead of mouse-bites?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 27 10:57:35 EDT 2017 | fkn

We make pcb depaneling equipment and many of our customers do a combination of tab routed panels with pre-score in order to speed up the singulation process. If you like, I can send you a picture of an example. Regards Klaus Heimann FKN Systek Tel.

I have never heard of heating boards prior to v-score. Have you established any trends on component orientation and cracking? What is your v-score thickness range? Do you have your blades regularly sharpened? Have you measured your blade alignment?

What process steps have been completed before the cross-section? What type of devices have solder cracks? Are the cracks found after just normal processing or after some type of validation testing? It is very unlikely to be a heating/cooling issue

Enough pluses and minuses to get things started are: * Mouse bites (+) boards can be irregularly shaped, no board redesign (-) no one knows how to seperate the things, requires layout consideration * Singulation (+) boards can be irregularly shaped (
